Shauk Hai.mp3

I'm back again after what seemed quite a long haul since the last post. Sorry for not concluding the last blog about the evening with Nikhil & Gaurav. Alas, how can I when just within two hours from posting the previous blog my Google AdSense account had been suspended, a subsequent explanation has been rejected not to mention the $ 117 cheque that had been cancelled outrightly without any reason mentioned. But of course, Google Team needn't mention the reason as I more than knew it myself and was expectant of the turn of events. The whole chain of events only, better than before re-imprinted Google's principles in my mind..

BE PATIENT, DON'T BE EVIL

So for those of you who're unaware of the episode lemme share it with you(Hehe, ain't prattling one of my fav. pastimes?); Also to dissuade anyone with ideas of doing the same mistake in the future, I'm posting the screenshots of the 4 days. It all began sometime around maybe Nov. 2007 or so when I got myself an AdSense account for my blog that you're reading now. After pasting the code in the template ads were being displayed on my blog everyday but no clicks were recorded(though I guess the only clicks would've been Mahi's(ma cousin) whom I persuaded to read my blog so many times) as I hadn't yet removed the hold on my account by declaring the non-holding of any job and/or any other property that falls under the jurisdication of the US federal government which is capable of generating any revenues(As, in such a case I'd have to submit my income returns, Google being a US company). On the 2nd of January'08 , I happened to un-intentionally click on the button "Remove Hold" in my AdSense account and in the process fill a simple form stating that I do not possess any job/property in the US, thereby releasing the hold on my account. With the hold removed, $3 had been credited in the account for the previous clicks that had not been accounted at that time. Making $3 out of just 17 clicks is fun isn't it? so it started, with me disconnecting my modem every once in a while(as my ip is dynamic & smart enough I thought that I was, Google could not trace me,only to be proved otherwise in the end,) and clicking on my own Google Ads. So far so good isn't it? I went on clicking my own ads until I made $ 100 in just under 4 days(Here, let me tell you I didn't really intend to go on clicking my ads forever,I was thinking of writing more and quality blogs in the future, Honestly). When I searched on the net for means by which Google can identify fraudulent clicks, not many results turned up and even among those, no one apart from Google's employees seemed to know how the real algorithm worked. This was when I seemed to think my luck would run out soon enough once the idea crept into my mind that Google may not actually analyse everyone's clicks unless there was real reason to(You got me right, why does he have to analyse a million clicks everyday, when he's only gonna pay those who cross the $100 least pay-out mark?).So it happened that the next day after I'd crossed the mark, I got a message that said "gotcha" and everything stopped at once, the ads, the account everything. Naive wasn't I ? to think that Google would be fooled into paying me $100 for a blog that hardly has 8 posts till date. One of the easiest ways in which they could've tracked me is by tracking MAC addresses( What they are will have to wait for a future post), which are unique to any PC in the world, so there's only one pc like mine if you know how to get my MAC address. Considering the ease with which 612 KB softwares like Netscan can collect the MAC addresses of all PCs in a Local Area Network (LAN), wouldn't it be child's play for a Giant like Google?

So, the moral of the day that we forgot loooooooooon ago having learned as a child?

HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY

there again,Be Patient,Don't be evil

An appeal to re-instate my account had been rejected and the truth is that I'll never again be able to get an account on AdSense. It doesn't matter any more and my blogs are here to stay. From now on each blog will carry atleast one cool mp3/video link for guys like myself out there. Hope you enjoy your time spent reading this blog. As I said before comments and suggestions are most welcome.

An evening with Nikhil & Gaurav......Today I attended in NSH(New Seminar Hall,NITW lingo) what could have easily been one of the best shows by far organized by any club this academic year. So "An Evening With" need not be me alone meeting the guys personally does it? Anyways for those guys(I'm not a chauvinist mind you, even the gals are welcome) who missed out on the show/seminar/presentation whatever you chose to call it, I've decided to summarise a few of the points that I managed to jot down in the Hall(Me?Taking Points??Rahul what has the world come to???). Sorry when I mentioned guys n gals who missed out on the show I should have included those like our poor dear Venki who having felt sleepy at the delay in the beginning of the show, left the Hall for some errand mooore important. Anyways without any delay...............

If you can Mail, you can BLOG too

No one could have put it easier than this. Before I go any further I'd like to Thank Gaurav Sharma(IInd year Chem), Nikhil Monga(or simply Monga,he prefers but I don't know his year n branch) for the superb show this evening & the time they'd spent to educate lesser fortunate souls @ NITW. Also, I'd like to thank Aditya Kurella(old time pal & branch-mate of mine) & the Entrepreneurship club for organising a nice show, not to mention the Munch he threw at me for answering a question.3 Cheers the Three of you. So, broadly speaking the different kinds of blogs are

1. Personal Blogging (Like the one you're reding now, like the one your friend writes out of boredom or to reach out to people & let them know the "REAL YOU")

2.News Filtering & gathering Opinions (Like in a consumer-forum blog where new things are reviewed & people share their personal feedback on the subject under discussion or as in many-a-blog used as a portal for uniting people to common-interest based Feeds n News)

3.Blogs for Institutions (Like the ones we have for a Branch,a Hobby Club, The TnP section, The NITW unofficial blog maintained by Gaurav himself etc..

4.Topic - Oriented Blogs ( I don't remember whether the two elaborated on this but I'll take a hit at this one; Blogs which have a fixed content and/or theme, containing info and news about a particular genre are supposed to fall in this category. There again blogs like the one on Orkut tricks, ADsense, another Blog on Hacking by Gaurav may be cited as examples)

5.Blogs for Academicians (I can't tell you what these blogs are like as I've never been myself anywhere near them; Ain't net meant to be a fun thing and a TP? why waste your time reading academician blogs about their accomplishments, currently on-going projects or requesting them for some XYZ source codes or so?).

P.S. Trust me final year EEE gals will have more to tell in this regard than me.

Sorry I can't go on more than this tonight. Already I'd munched 3 loaves of bread in a deliberate attempt to keep myself awake. I promise you I'd finish in tomorrow's blog what I started today and myself to finish the unfinished task of sending a friend request to Monga on Orkut(coz I already added Gaurav;did you notice that This' not the first time I mentioned Gaurav's blog btw?)

Follow this space tomorrow for the completed transcript but in the meanwhile you can consider attending tomorrow's programme on Stock Market same time(5:00 pm) same venue (NSH) organised by the same people (Kurella aka Entrepreneurship Club). For the better version of the show, you'd do better to catch one of those guys live at Nescafe(Gaurav said that didn't he?) at your expense that is, to say..

Letters From Iwo Jima
(2006):Review

Far from a mirror image of FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS, which contained scenes of the battle of Iwo Jima seen exclusively from the U.S. perspective, the "Japanese" half of Clint Eastwood's Iwo diptych is exactly the kind of film FLAGS' detractors were hoping for: a conventional war narrative, expertly told, powerfully acted and filled with moments of brutal truth, savage grace and old-fashioned hokum. Iwo Jima, 1945: General Tadamichi Kuribayashi (Ken Watanabe) arrives on the grim Pacific island knowing it's only a matter of time before U.S. forces storm Iwo Jima in an attempt to destroy the airstrips blocking an all-out aerial assault on the Japanese mainland. General Kuribayashi is joined by the dashing Baron Nishi (Tsuyoshi Ihara), a champion equestrian who competed alongside the Americans in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. Gentlemen warriors both, they sip wine and bemoan this age of mechanized warfare and the mindless, dehumanizing nationalism gripping their beloved homeland. Much to the dismay of officers overseeing the fortification of Iwo's black-sand beaches, General Kuribayashi orders an immediate halt to all the trench-digging. The beach will fall to the Americans no matter what, he argues; the battle for the island will have to be fought from under Iwo Jima. By the time the massive U.S. armada is spotted on the horizon, more than 18 miles of tunnels have been dug under Iwo's crust and throughout Mount Suribachi, the volcanic mass anchoring the island (and atop which the American flag would soon be raised). Stationed deep within Suribachi are Saigo (Kazunari Ninomiya), a humble baker, and Shimizu (Ryo Kase), a member of the infamous Kempeitai, the Gestapo-style police force whom Saigo suspects has been sent to spy on his fellow soldiers. Once Suribachi falls, however, Saigo is bound to Shimizu as they attempt to escape not just the Americans but also the rogue Japanese officer (Shido Nakamura) demanding that they suicide. While it lacks the theoretical complexity and timely importance of FLAGS, LETTERS is a significant development in the genre: No American war film, let alone one made during a time of war, ever embedded itself so deeply in the enemy camp. Even TORA! TORA! TORA! relied on Japanese filmmakers to tell the "other side" of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Eastwood and screenwriter Iris Yamashita based the film on Japanese source material — a cache of unsent letters found deep within the tunnels — and it's a hugely sympathetic effort that challenges the usual portrayal of Iwo's defenders as bloodthirsty fanatics. Tellingly, Eastwood offers a very different version of a FLAGS scenario in which a young Marine is yanked off the battlefield and sadistically tortured to death. Here, a seriously wounded U.S. soldier is pulled into a cave and tenderly nursed by Lt. Colonel Nishi, and the act of mercy leads to the film's strongest moment. As Nishi translates aloud the dying soldier's final letter from home, the Japanese soldiers draw closer, each hanging on every word as if it had been written by his own mother. In a magical instant, all that separates two nations at war disappears. This is sentimentality of the best kind, a touching display of male bonding amid terror and aching loneliness worthy of Howard Hawks at his finest.

Facts of The Day:

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT Formula 1 CARS:-

01. An F1 car is made up of 80,000 components, which means if it were assembled 99.9% correctly, it would still start the race with 80 things wrong!

02. Formula 1 cars have over a kilometer of cable, linked to about 100 sensors and actuators which monitor and control many parts of the car.

03. An F1 car can go from 0 to 160 kph AND back to 0 in FOUR seconds!!!!!!!

04. F1 car engines last only for about 2 hours of racing mostly before blowing up; on the other hand we expect our engines to last for a decent 20 years on an average and they quite faithfully DO....thats the extent to which the poor engines are pushed to perform...

05. When an F1 driver hits the brakes on his car he experiences retardation or deceleration comparable to a regular car driving through a BRICK wall at 300kmph !!!

06. An average F1 driver looses about 4 kg of weight after just an hour((Yeah thats
right!!!) of racing due to the prolonged exposure to high G-Forces and temperatures.

07. At 550kg an F1 car is less than half the weight of a Maruti-800.

08. In an F1 car the engine typically revs up to 18000 rpm,(the
piston travelling up and down 300 times a second!!) where ass cars like
the palio, maruti 800,indica rev only up to 6000 rpm at max, which is still 3 times
slower.

09. The brake discs in an F1 car have an operating temperature of
approx 1000 Degree Centigrade and they attain that temp while
braking before almost every turn...that is why they r not made of steel
but from carbon fibre which is much more harder and resistant to wear
and tear and most of all has a higher melting point.

10. If a water hose were to blow off, the complete cooling system
would empty in just over a second.

11. Gear cogs are used only for one race, and are replaced regularly to prevent failure,
as they are subjected to very high degrees of stress.

12. To give you an idea of just how important aerodynamic design and
added down-force can be, small planes can take off at slower speeds
than F1 cars travel on the track.

13. Without aerodynamic down-force, high-performance racing cars have
sufficient power to produce wheel spin and loss of control at 160
kph. They usually race at over 300 kph.

14. The amount of aerodynamic down-force produced by the front and
rear wings and the car under body is amazing. Once the car is
travelling over 160 kph, an F1 car can generate enough down-force to
equal it's own weight. That means it could actually hold itself to the
CEILING of a tunnel and drive UPSIDE down!

15. In a street course race like the Monaco Grand prix, the
down-force provides enough suction to lift manhole covers. Before
the race all of the manhole covers on the streets have to be welded down
to prevent this from happening!

16. The re fuelers used in F1 can supply 12 litres of fuel per
second. This means it would take just 4 seconds to fill the tank of
an average 50 litre family car. They use the same refueling rigs
used on US military helicopters today.

17. TOP F1 pit crews can refuel and change tyres in around 3
seconds. It took me 8 sec to read above point (no.16).

18. Race car tyres don't have air in them like normal car tyres.
Most racing tyres have nitrogen in the tyres because nitrogen has a
more consistent pressure compared to normal air. Air typically
contains varying amounts of water vapour in it, which affects its expansion
and contraction as a function of temperature, making the tyre pressure
unpredictable.

19. During the race the tyres lose weight! Each tyre loses about 0.5
kg in weight due to wear.

20. Normal tyres last 60 000 - 100 000 km. Racing tyres are
designed to last 90 - 120 km (That's Khandala and back from Mumbai).

21. A dry-weather F1 tyre reaches peak operating performance (best
grip) when tread temperature is between 900C and 1200C.(Water
boils at 100 C remember?)

Best of 2007 Part I

The Music That Was...............

Though the year 2007 had been a disappointing one for the Tollywood movie enthusiasts, with so many a Mega-Budget venture falling flat at the box-office, the same isn't exactly true for the Music lovers though. Similar to the case with the movies,2007 marked an year of gargantuan growth for small-time to less-than Highest paid music directors. Harris Jayaraj, who already made a mark in Telugu with Cheli,Gharshana,Vaasu & Ghajini had been having a wonderful time with a straight hit(Munna) & 2 dubbed hits Neevalle Neevalle,Raghavan. Though Rahman's work in Sivaji & Nuvvu Nenu Prema is commendable, it's not really upto the mark, what with charging a mammoth fee of Rs.7 crore(you read it right, that's his price tag now a days) for a movie like Nuvvu Nenu Prema which can just boast of 2 beautiful songs(Though both are extraordinary,). His fans wonder whether the best of Rahman is a thing of the past. The regular biggies Mani Sharma,Keeravani,Koti seem to be running out of copied tunes of late(Let's wish them better luck in 2008,God show them more English,Arabic,German & Celtic tunes that go un-noticed when re-created). Devi Sri Prasad has done a fine job in Aata and Shankardada Zindabad, only that his music could not save the fate of the second re-made installment of Munnabhai(God knows how many more are gonna be re-made Amen!..)

The man who stole the whole show is undoubtedly-unanimously(if there's any such adjective)Mickey J Meyer, the Graduate from Trinity College Of Music, London also coincidently the third Music Director down South to have completed the coveted 7- year course after Maestro Ilaiyaraja & Godly A.R.Rahman. Though nobody seemed to notice his presence as music director in the award-winning feature Pothe-Poni(featuring Sindhu Tolani,Siva Balaji(2005),I wonder how many even noticed the presence of the film,),his beautiful scores for the movie Xth Class did turn some heads. When he began 2007 with another small time feature Notebook, his track Ee Galilo, more soothing than any balm ever known, had taken passionate music lovers by storm, not a wonder that his next album Happy Days had released to the much-awaited anticipation of a new genre of music lovers(add to that the Elegance & Finesse of Shekar Kammula and you know too,now even better why it was an album worth waiting for,one I was forced to buy the original rather than download). For us to remember, in time to come, let me summarize some of the songs we loved hearing to time and again in 2007.

First things first,I hope no one out there is ready to pick a fight with me for not including/over-looking their favourite tracks.Let me clarify that this is a track-listing compiled purely by me the ONLY source of which is My itunes library play count. And yeah, I do have to admit that when I began, I thought over of a Top-10,which later breached the 15-mark and then the 20-mark but at 25 I had to call a halt. Also, I won't deny the fact that there are quite some others who are good enough to stay in this list, but have been removed for the sake of convenience, like Happy Days for instance, whose other 4 Tracks are as much in the Top - 25(and the songs now stand at 5th and 6th places only after I'd reset their play count when they touched 120-higher than any other song) but have been omitted with the exception of the 3 I love moost, to make way for the others.Among other such ommisions is also Neevalle Neevalle whose every song vies with the others for a place here(again the same logic applied dude). If anyone still feels there are some songs seriously left out you may well IM me or leave your comment about the track, which may well be incorporated in a list of Don't Miss Me Too tracks later as a follow-up to this post.

A Goal, A Platform

The other day I was checking out a IIIrd year guy Gaurav from my college whose blog was a miniature all-in-all ranging from Google Adsense ads for children to cracked softwares and guides to hacking, not to mention a whole arsenal of multimedia tools and download links for at least 500 videos,mp3s and movies. Well if someone could, why not me? Why not at least try? Given the rich wealth of information, gaming & entertainment available on the net, with the advent of new advertising solutions and thanks to a mushrooming multitude of site-promoting tactics,we often end up browsing hours on an end and still finding ourselves not far away from where we actually started(Be grateful if you hadn't had to spend half the time closing pop-ups!),only God knows whether what you end up in the end is EXACTLY what you wanted in the beginning.Forgive my penchant for loong sentences. As it appears, those who know where to find what hardly tend to share the info with others for reason no one knows but only one everyone can guess;Hey kiddos stop being so snobbish,it's not a classroom you're in where helping someone understand a problem may increase his chance of beating you in the Term papers.

If you're still wondering what this' all about may be you should go back & re-read the whole paragraph. So I've started this blog to educate people about all things related to Computers & Internet(That i know of,obviously),share links, gossip, reviews, latest forums and to act as a platform for mutual benefit of all.Hope I made myself clearer than Miruvor(What???).Regarding the other end I expect a very honest feedback from readers as to the content or the style in which the blog is presented.Apart from that you guyz can come up with suggestions yourself, request links to be placed in the blog, who knows someday we may have viewership enough to even promote links and websites!!You may comment openly in the blog or scrap me on Orkut or IM me on Google/Yahoo (rahuliit2003).

And that's for now, hoping to see you soon enough with the planned series "Best of 2007".

BBye Cya again dear palanthir.
